Requested Delivery Date & Helpful Information
In order to ensure that you receive the freshest and highest quality food from Bertha’s kitchen to your door, we will sometimes need to limit the number of orders we take online and limit the amount of shipments on certain dates. We make every effort to try to get our freshest products to you as quickly as possible and try to meet your requested delivery dates. There are times, however that your requested delivery date may not be able to be met, in which case we will make every effort to reach you to confirm the updated delivery date estimate.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Any order changes must be received and acknowledged at least 3 business days prior to shipment. We are unable to honor changes received after that time.
Delivery Notes & Disclaimers
• We Proudly Ship Via UPS®.
• PLEASE NOTE: Sunday and Monday delivery is not available. Berthas.com delivers Tuesday-Saturday only, so shipments remain fresh for live mussels or stay frozen with appropriate ice packs.
• SALES TAX: Add 6% sales tax on the product total (not including shipping), to any order being delivered into the state of Maryland. This excludes Gift Certificate purchases.
• Delivery time not guaranteed during major holiday seasons or weather delays.
• All Shipments require a street address (sorry, no PO Boxes). Damage due to incorrect or incomplete shipping addresses voids our guarantee. Package delivery cannot be guaranteed if any address information provided to us is incorrect. Please be sure to double check addresses.
• The courier may leave the package at the door if no one is home. Recipients in apartment buildings may need to be home in order to sign for their package and ensure delivery. Sending to a business address is a good option to consider.
• Drivers may require a signature if they feel it is an unsecured location.
• Berthas.com cannot be responsible for contacting recipients regarding package delivery dates.

Ground Delivery:
UPS Ground Delivery is only available for select locations near our Maryland restaurant location. This ensures packages will stay fresh (for live products) or stay frozen (for ice packed products). Packages sent via this method will arrive in 1-2 days and often arrive the next day.
This shipping method will only appear in checkout if your zip code is within the ground shipping areas.
You select the delivery date of choice, by selecting the delivery date in the shipping calendar.
Deliveries arrive to residences by 8:00 pm and to businesses by 5:00 pm.
Frozen packages should be scheduled to arrive one day prior to preparation to allow thawing time.
2-Day Delivery:
2-Day Delivery is not available for live mussel packages; only frozen. This ensure the live mussels survive, by delivering in 1 business day.
Packages sent via this method will arrive in 1-2 days and often arrive the next day.
You select the delivery date of choice, by selecting the delivery date in the shipping calendar.
This shipping method will only appear in checkout if the delivery date selected allows for 2 day delivery, and the items in your cart are all frozen.
Deliveries arrive to residences by 8:00 pm and to businesses by 5:00 pm.
Frozen packages should be scheduled to arrive one day prior to preparation to allow thawing time.
Overnight/Next Day Air Delivery:
Overnight shipping is the method required for ALL LIVE MUSSEL packages.
Live mussel delivery is not available to Alaska or Hawaii, although we can ship frozen items to these areas for additional shipping and handling. Please call Customer Service at 1-410-327-5795 for more information.
Packages sent via this method will arrive in 1 day.

UPS delivers packages by 5:00 pm to commercial areas and by 8:00 pm to residences the next business day after being shipped.
Frozen packages should be scheduled to arrive one day prior to preparation to allow thawing time.
Priority Overnight (Required for Alaska, Hawaii, and Remote Areas):
Priority overnight shipping is the method required for all LIVE MUSSEL packages shipping to remote areas.
Live mussel delivery is not available to Alaska or Hawaii, although we can ship frozen items to these areas. Please call Customer Service at 1-410-327-5795 for more information.
UPS usually delivers Priority Overnight packages by noon the next business day after being shipped. However, shipping to remote areas may be as late as 8:00 pm. Please call Customer Service at 1-410-327-5795 for more information.
Saturday Delivery:
Saturday delivery is available to most city and suburban areas for an additional fee not to exceed $20 which will be added at time of shipment.
Deliveries typically arrive between 8:00 am and 1:30 pm.

Sunday and Monday Deliveries:
Sunday and Monday deliveries are not available for perishable packages.
Shipping Rates & Timeframe – Physical Gift Certificates
Gift Certificate Timeframes
To track your order, please visit our Order Tracking page. Please note that 1st Class Mail is not trackable, as it is sent via USPS not UPS.
1st Class Mail FREE – Gift certificate orders (Not including ONLINE GIFT CARDS/CERTIFICATES) are normally processed and mailed via USPS within 1 – 2 business days once the order is received from our Baltimore, Maryland restaurant location. Please allow 7-10 business days for delivery, though it may arrive sooner.
Package Handling – Mussel Care & Cooking
• Packages containing live mussels are guaranteed to arrive alive. If you are unsure whether your mussels are alive upon arrival, we ask that you call us immediately at 1-410-327-5795 or if after business hours, email us at customerservice@berthas.com and we will respond as quickly as possible the next business day.
• All live mussel packages must be prepared on the day the package arrives. If you are unsure of your recipient’s plans, we recommend sending a Gift Card/Certificate.
• Frozen packages should be scheduled to arrive at least 1 day prior to preparation to allow thawing time. Did you forget to thaw? Try our quick-thaw Bertha’s food guide!
• We include a cooking instruction guide with every order and can also be viewed online. Even if someone has never cooked live mussels we will make them an expert with variations to choose from when preparing!
• A personalized gift message is included in every order at no additional charge.
Shipping for Online Gift Card/Certificate Redemptions
Online Gift Cards/Certificates DO NOT have shipping charges built in to their value. However, their redemption amounts may be applied to shipping charges, depending upon the order total of product, tax (if applicable) and shipping combined.
